The Recipe Box

My family has an incredible tradition that has been handed down. Whenever someone gets married, for their shower, we do 2 things. First, we make a train filled with all sorts of spices and kitchen things. The second is a recipe box. This just isn't any recipe box though, it contains our family secrets, our beloved passed down recipes. You see, my family was really good at baking from scratch. They lived through the depression and always found ways to make yummy things. Thankfully, this love of baking has not skipped a single generation. We have a few recipes that are keepers and people have enjoyed for decades. All of my cousins and siblings still make these recipes. It is one of those things that connects us to our ancestors, keeping their memory alive and well. Every time I create one of their recipes, it is almost like they are in the kitchen with me. I can feel them around me. I love how it reconnects me to them, especially while creating the deliciousness with my own children. I am so thankful for their ingenuity, recipes and love to share for years to come.

Please be kind.

Hope and light lives within us all.

xoxo
